What Was He Waiting For?

Mary heard the news Gabriel.

Nine months later He was there.

Now what?

Oh, just running to foreign countries.

Fleeing a desperate king.

Teething.

Terrible Two’s.

Temper tantrums.

The self-importance of a teenager.

And then Jesus turned eighteen years old.

Surely this would be the time when he would start rallying the troops and making a difference.

Then He turned twenty.

He turned twenty-five.

Twenty-six.

Twenty-seven.

Twenty-eight.

Twenty-nine.

What was he waiting for?

I’m sure it felt like he was getting a late start.

Did he still live with his parents?

Years passed by with unfulfilled hopes and dreams.

Questions probably started popping up.

Doubts pushed their way in.

At some point, the water was changed to wine.

But before that?

They waited.

46 “My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant. – Luke 1:46-48
